Don't miss out on the upcoming event about International GIS day, part of National Geography Awareness Week.
GIS Day is celebrated internationally every third Wednesday of November (this year on December 7, 2018 due to Thanksgiving holiday conflict & California Fires) as part of National Geography Awareness Week, and provides an international forum for users of geographic information systems (GIS) technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society.
The first formal GIS Day took place in 1999. LA County began holding its own GIS Day event in 2008 to promote GIS awareness, education, and training around GIS within the County, and to showcase the work the Enterprise GIS Steering committee has done to eliminate duplication, reduce costs, and facilitate the sharing and interchange of geographic data, methods, and knowledge.
